I am going to try to create one. I already have made a sphere. Hope i can have some success with your instructions you shared on this channel. Think you created 3 here. I probably will fail but i need to
@@netsuke I will work on this very slowly amidst my other projects. I finished 6 chestnuts now. In the process of coloring 3 of them. Thank you for answering always it stimulates and helps a bit :)
Part of what you need to know is what wood he is working in !!! my first guess is Boxwood , the white pieces in traditional Chess sets are made from boxwood !!! The Black are from Gabon Ebony !!! These woods are almost as hard as stone & will retain the carved shapes for hundreds or even thousands of years if stored properly !!! A scalpel / razor sharp tool is required to work the wood & skill with great care to protect the hands etc... Some netsuke use to be made of the different types of ivory , I have read that Hippo & walrus were the best to carve followed by whale & elephant !!!
There is currently no website with a collection of works for sale. I have sold some pieces on 'minne', which I mentioned earlier. Other works I have created are on Twitter and Instagram. Many people see them and negotiate with them.
Thank you or your reply. I realise it is a chisel. I should have made myself more clear. What is that kind of chisel called? Sorry I was so vague. It was so exciting watching you work - I just wrote quickly without thinking! It wasn't at all clear what I meant.
I’m very happy to see a channel created by a Netsuke carver. I will follow your work genuine interest and admiration!
Thanks for the comment 😊
Thank you for sharing this technology. There is something of the ancient carver masters living on with you.
😳😳I’m aww struck !! Simply amazing… so glad you dubbed in a voice, all the more effective. I’ll follow you for sure.👍😇🇺🇸
Thank you. I am busy with exhibitions for a while, but I will try to make another video.
Oh by the way beautiful work!
You make the process look so effortless. Definitely a true master!!
Thank you very much. I am very happy. Your words give me strength.😊
Beautiful!

Amazing work.

Failure is always a good experience. It is important to work to identify which part of the process failed. Let's try without fear of failure.

Excelente maestro!!!! Enhorabuena🎊🎉
😆
Bravo!!!
É muito bonito, e muita dedicação à arte
Did you succeed the 1st try or did this go different? I feel i need many tries before there are no mistakes
My teacher told me to make at least 20. Of course, I neglected to do this depending on the subject matter. :)
Hi! Really nice work! May I ask you what kind of wood is this? Is it boxwood? Ty🙏
Yes.BoxWood
amazing!
Hello, wondering what species of wood is that you carve? I’ve carved many netsuke in my past for collectors and at times I use Japanese boxwood.
This is just absolutely lovely…do u sell your creations? Where can we buy them?
I also trade directly, although it takes time as I am not used to it.
I also sell on 'minne'.
minne.com/items/32607082
Thank you… I’ll definitely take a look.
Do you have a website with a catalogue of all your works that can be purchased?
There is currently no website with a collection of works for sale. I have sold some pieces on 'minne', which I mentioned earlier. Other works I have created are on Twitter and Instagram. Many people see them and negotiate with them.
Most of the pieces I have made are on Instagram. However, some of them have already been sold.
👍 Gracias maestro por tu clase magistral.
What is the tool used to carve the circle?
It is the chisel that plays a major role as in 5:53. But whatever blade you are comfortable with is fine.

I call it "Tataki Nomi." It is a tapping chisel.
Thank you so very much@@netsuke
muito bom
